We are leading a two day intensive workshop exploring Forum Theatre and other Theatre of the Oppressed Tools, at Northern Stage, Newcastle as part of our Cardboard Camps programme.
This two day workshop will help participants who already have an awareness of Theatre of the Oppressed and Forum Theatre develop their knowledge and experience further. Through these techniques, participants may find a way of discussing their own personal experiences through drama, exploring alternate approaches, and developing the skills to understand them.
Cardboard Citizens is renowned as being one of the world’s leading Forum Theatre companies, and is nationally recognised as an organisation that supports individual and social change through our work.
- Discover practical examples of the Forum Theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed techniques the Cardboard Citizens use with people with lived experience of homelessness or at risk of homelessness
- Hear real-life stories of how the Citz model of Theatre of the Oppressed and pastoral support has impacted on people’s lives
- Have the opportunity to play and create your own Forum Theatre performance to gain first-hand experience of the effectiveness of this work
This training course is part of a programme of residencies taking place around the country training individuals and organisations in the techniques Cardboard Citizens use to engage vulnerable people and effect change.
Who's it for?:
Anyone interested in creative ways of engaging and supporting vulnerable people. This will be particularly useful for arts practitioners, facilitators and those using the arts to work with vulnerable groups across Newcastle and Teesside.
