Andy W Ganf
Andy Ganf worked in grants management and policy planning in government and the voluntary sector for over 20 years, and possesses in-depth and practical expertise in how the government works and all aspects of grant assessment and distribution across the whole spectrum of the voluntary sector in London. He is retired and currently sits on the board of four charities, including Cardboard Citizens, Emergency Exit Arts, and Strawberry Hill Trust.
Barbra Mazur
Grants Manager for the John Ellerman Foundation which supports a broad cross-section of national charities doing work in five categories (health & disability, social welfare, arts, conservation and overseas). Over ten years' experience in the voluntary sector. During this time she worked at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors in the United States. Since coming to Britain seven years ago she has worked as a Grants Manager at the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation in the Social Development and Environment sectors. She has also worked at the Big Lottery Fund as a Grants Officer on the Education Programme and was most recently Grants Officer for the Social Welfare Programme at the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
Graham Fisher - Chair
Graham is the Chief Executive of Toynbee Hall, a position he has held since November 2008. Graham’s career combines work in both the advice and legal services sector and the cultural sector. Prior to joining Toynbee Hall, Graham was the Chief Executive of MLA London, the strategic regional development agency for museums, libraries and archives. He led MLA London over a 4 year period initiating basic skills, tourism development and sector capacity building programmes. Before joining MLA London, Graham was the Director of London Libraries Development Agency, the development agency for London’s public libraries.
Graham’s earlier career was in the advice and legal services sector. He spent 3 years at the Legal Services Commission leading the team establishing the Community Legal Service in London. Prior to this he was the London Regional Director of Advice UK. Graham has also worked in local government, for the Citizens Advice Service and in adult education.
John Moffatt - Treasurer
John Moffatt has spent more than 30 years specialising in Corporate Finance, principally as a partner in a professional practice in Paris. He has been based in London since 2001 and has been a Trustee of Cardboard Citizens since 2006. For some 22 years until 2005 he was a Trustee and Treasurer of the Hertford British Hospital in Paris, a Charity with 90 hospital beds, 200 healthcare employees and investment properties comprising 7,500 m2 of commercial lets. He is a former night shift telephone volunteer for the Samaritans in Glasgow, and following several unpaid marathons in France in successive years he raised £ 10,000 for Highland Hospice in 41/2 hours hard labour in the London marathon in 2002.
Jonathan Sandall - Trustee
A graduate of Edinburgh University in Business Studies and Spanish, Jonathan built a successful career in retail financial services both in the UK and overseas including a spell in HK where latterly he held the role of Global Marketing Director for an international firm of financial advisers.
On returning to the UK, Jonathan sought a change of career direction and entered the Third Sector to lead on the corporate fund raising strategy for a capital appeal at Shelter to bring an end to child homelessness through a series of innovative education, social welfare and legal work projects. During Jonathan’s four years at Shelter he worked with a number of top social housing, financial and legal organisations, developing multi-year strategic partnerships across services, policy and fundraising.
Jonathan is passionate about helping tackle the devastating social exclusion that arises from homelessness and inspired by the life-transforming and self-empowering work of Cardboard Citizens.
Mary Ann Hushlak
Prose writer, screen writer and script editor. Trained counsellor. Previously worked for Canadian Institute of Public Affairs.
Philip Parr - Trustee
Philip is a director of theatre, opera and festivals. He was director of the 2006 Bath International Shakespeare Festival, and from 2000-2006 Director of the Swaledale Festival in Yorkshire. In 2008 he was Artistic Director for the Holocaust Memorial Day National Event, part of the European City of Culture celebrations in Liverpool.
As a director of opera and theatre, his productions have been seen around the world.
Philip has been a staff director at Glyndebourne Festival Opera, The Bayerisches Staatsoper and at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. He was founder and Artistic Director of Spitalfields Market Opera, a purpose built chamber opera house for London and the first opera house built in London for over 100 years.
In the theatre Philip has made a particular reputation in large scale community plays, chiefly working as Artistic Director of Parrabbola – who make and manage community arts projects all over the UK and internationally. In 2011 he’s directed new plays in Liverpool, Birmingham and Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire.
Philip is a founding council member of the European Shakespeare Festivals network. In August 2010 he directed a pan European site specific community play production of Pericles for the International Shakespeare Festival in Gdansk.
Sean Dalton
Sean has worked in the Lloyd's insurance sector since graduating in History in 1988.
Recently founded a new Lloyd's syndicate having previously worked as CEO of the second largest syndicate at LLoyd's as well as formerly being a member of the Council of LLoyd's.
Sian Edwardes-Evans
Teacher. Previously Community Development Officer for London Bubble Theatre Company; exhibitions organiser for Canada House.
Simon Hughes - Trustee
Simon Hughes is Area Manager for St Mungo's in North and East London, with over 20 years experience of developing and delivering support services to people who are Homeless and to Rough Sleeping as well as to ex Offenders, persons with Drug and Alcohol dependency and those with Mental Health support needs. Simon played a central role in the refurbishment of cardboard citizens first home Mare Street Hostel into a centre of excellence both for its physical environment and for the model of support it offers including a wide range of arts based activities. He sits on a number of key bodies related to homelessness and vulnerable adults and is also the Chair of ecoATIVE environmental education service.
Sue Timothy
Sue Timothy has worked in the arts for the whole of her working life. Her main (though not exclusive) experience is in theatre - as a manager, producer and a funder. Thus, she has wide knowledge and experience of the arts and the arts funding system and more specific knowledge and experience of theatre, theatre practices and structures.
