Cardboard Citizens has forged a reputation for innovative, interactive, social theatre. Our experience of working with homeless and ex-homeless people, including refugees and asylum seekers, and our roots in forum theatre give our theatre a distinctive artistic voice.
As our profile and reputation has grown, especially through touring to arts venues and mounting co-productions and site-specific projects, we have earned critical acclaim.
A key feature of this work is the bringing together of mainstream and homeless audiences in an unique cultural partnership that develops new audiences for the future.
Our professional theatre work works on two levels:- Large-scale site-specific work
- An annual smaller-scale tour to arts centres and studio theatres
Both areas of work involve collaborative productions with mainstream arts companies such as the ENO and the RSC which enables the company to share its expertise in social inclusion and audience interaction with mainstream arts organisations, whilst our own performers gain skills and expertise from more conventionally trained performers.
Our latest collaboration with the RSC, Visible, written by Sarah Woods will tour arts centres and studio theatres throughout the UK from April 2006. Click here for further information.
