Sheffield residency volunteers needed

Cardboard Citizens is preparing for its next Citz National Residency – the most different and ambitious to date – in Sheffield and are looking for volunteers.

Working with the Age Better programme alongside SYHA, we will be producing a piece of verbatim theatre bringing together the stories and experiences of Sheffield's older community both past and present. These will then be performed by the older residents alongside younger people in a truly intergenerational debate-creating performance. We're looking for volunteers to help us find and record those stories.

We're looking for volunteers who will go out into the community as door knockers, hear and record the stories and experiences firsthand, and then transcribe the interviews to create the backbone of the verbatim script. Volunteers can also do one or the other (either door knocking or transcribing). Volunteers will then, if they wish, have the opportunity to be involved in supporting the creative process and be part of the play itself.

This is a great opportunity to both get to know and support your community better, be involved in an exciting creative project and get to know Cardboard Citizens' expert facilitators, as well as other local artists, organisations and practitioners.
