Training & consultancy
What’s the goal? What’s the obstacle? What’s the solution?
Cardboard Citizens offers a world acclaimed annual programme of training at our Whitechapel HQ for individuals and organisations, including a week-long introduction to Forum Theatre, Jokering and Rainbow of Desires. Click here for the details of courses coming up.
We also offer bespoke and off-the-shelf training in all aspects of Theatre of the Oppressed methodology: Forum Theatre, Jokering, Rainbow of Desires, Legislative Theatre, Writing for Forum and bespoke training for businesses and organisations, including Health & Safety Training.
We also offer The Art of Engagement training in how to engage marginalised groups as well as workshops on how to incorporate storytelling in your organisation. Cardboard Citizens draws on its expertise in accessible theatre techniques, alongside other democratic learning tools to offer a unique training and consultancy experience. This innovative approach allows you and your team to work together to:
- Identify your common goal
- Agree on the obstacles that get in the way
- Share experiences of those obstacles from each of the different perspectives within the team
- Identify possible solutions.
But it doesn’t stop there! Applying its expertise in Forum Theatre techniques, the Cardboard Citizens training then provides the opportunity to try out some of the possible solutions, within the context of a scene from a story, or play. Having observed an idea, or possible solution being tested, within a real life situation, your team can debate its merits, before trying another, and then another. It’s a sort of rehearsal for life, an engaging, participative, fun process that will help you imagine and realise life the way you’d prefer it to be. At best you’ll find and agree on the solution. At least you’ll go away with increased awareness, understanding and knowledge - and a whole range of new ideas to explore.
